Loretta Goodwin Gallery is affiliated with Brill Fine Art Services offering appraisal services for fine art acquisitions. Whether you have an antique painting or a work by a local artist, we are equipped to do appraisals for either and all in between. There are several reasons that clients require the services of an art appraiser. The most common cause for a fine arts appraisal is for insurance purposes. Most people do not realize that insurance companies require a fine arts appraisal for any piece of art valued in excess of $1000. Since several of our clients have collections totalling well over this amount, it is imperative to have these works assessed and added to their policies. In the case of catastrophic loss or theft, it is best to have all of your valuable works of art on an appraisal schedule. Then, if there is a loss, the insurance company is aware of what you owned and its current market value. Other common reasons for fine art appraisals are: estate planning or in the case of settling an estate after the loss of a loved one, tax deductible donation to a charity or church, or works of art that you have inherited. If you have appraisal needs or questions please contact the gallery at (205) 328-1761 or email us at loretta_gallery@bellsouth.net |
